The March issue of American Fitness magazine published one of my photographs taken during the 2006 Pikes Peak Marathon. The article quotes Ivi Kerrigan and Steve Sisson.
Originally, they were asking to use the photograph I took of Ivi at the summit during the 2005 marathon but I guess it did not make the cut.
Here is the original picture. The crop in the article zooms in so there is better view of the runners in the background. This is a perspective of this photograph I had not considered. Until I saw this crop in the article, I thought of this a picture of a solitary runner on trail high above the clouds. In the blown up version, other participants become visible (though still hard to see in the images below) and you get the impression of a less solitary race - which is really more representative of the moment. What a difference the enlargement and crop make on the impression of the image.
